Weeks 38 and 39!!

Hello!  We are 39 weeks today!!  Woohoo!  1 week until our due date!  After today our  countdown is in DAYS, even though it still could be a few weeks until baby arrives.

Baby this week:  Baby has mostly finished growing both in height and weight at this point.  Baby's food size comparison is to a watermelon, my favorite fruit!  Baby is technically considered full term at this point, however, it could be another 1-3 weeks before baby arrives!

Momma and Papa this week:  I have officially finished my last round of overnight shifts until after maternity leave!  Yay!  I am scheduled at work for the next two weeks as my plan is to continue working until this baby is ready to meet us!  Tyler has had a real busy couple of weeks at work with presentations and projects due, which continues through this week for him.  Despite our busy work schedules, we have managed to have a couple of great weekends together!  Last weekend we went up to Western Mass for the wedding of one of Tyler's childhood friends.  It was a beautiful wedding and really fun to catch up with some great people.  We spent most of the night dancing and laughing and truly enjoying ourselves.  Sunday we spent a lazy morning with Polly and Gary and then went apple picking!  Apple picking is one of my favorite fall activities and I cannot wait to make some delicious apple treats this week!  This weekend we were able to lounge around the house quite a bit, only leaving yesterday to run a quick errand and then go on a movie date.  Today we had another late start and went pumpkin picking and to try out a new climbing gym.  Overall, both weekends were fantastic, but we are definitely ready to add another human member to our weekend family activities!  The nursery is done, our hospital bag is mostly packed and we plan on installing the car seat this week.  Baby C can come anytime now!  Enjoy some pictures of our recent fall fun below!

Dr's appts:  Week 38 appointment was perfect and we have our week 39 appointment tomorrow.  We are scheduled for our 40 week appointment on 10/13 and then if still no baby, they will start seeing us every few days.  We were told at the last appointment that if there is still no baby by the 22nd then we will most likely get induced on the 23rd to avoid going past 42 weeks.

Well, that's all the update we've got for tonight!  Hopefully we will have a major
update soon!!  All our love, XOXO!

Weeks 35, 36, 37

Today we are 37 weeks and 4 days.  That means less than 2.5 weeks until this baby is due!  Wow!  Cannot believe it!

Baby this week:  Baby's food size comparison this week is to a winter melon--no one seems to know what that is, Tyler and myself included.  Baby's estimated to be anywhere from 19-22 inches long and about 6-6.5 pounds.  Baby's brain and nervous system continue to develop (a process that doesn't slow down until about 3 years of age) but mostly baby is just packing on the pounds!

Momma and Papa this week:  The last few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind with work schedules and trips.  I am still on overnights but was able to meet Tyler in Maine for a few days two weekends ago.   The ride wasn't too bad and it is absolutely gorgeous up there.  When the dogs and myself arrived, Tyler was able to take the rest of the afternoon off so we could walk around the campus where he was doing his teaching and then adventure to downtown Bar Harbor where we played tourist and then had a truly amazing dinner.  The next day it was pouring and he was in the lab teaching all day but I was able to catch up on some sleep and then join him and get to watch him work for a few hours.  Saturday was also a half day for him so I got myself a massage in the morning and then we took the dogs on a 3 mile hike up Beech Mountain in Acadia National Park.  It was incredible and we all had a great time (pics below).  On the way home from Maine, one of our cars broke down.  While it was a bit of an inconvenience, we were able to drive the rest of the way home in 1 car and it ended up being a cheap/easy fix.  Thank goodness for AAA!  End of last week we traveled by Amtrak train to Washington DC for a veterinary conference.  I went to the conference and Tyler did other work but we were able to escape quite a bit and go on a few downtown DC excursions.  We adventured around our hotel area the first night with Skylar (she drove 2.5 hours to come see us!) and Juli.  We spent most of Sunday walking around DC and going to the Air and Space Museum.  We had lunch on the National Mall and later in the afternoon/evening visited most of the major monuments.  The next afternoon was spent at the Museum of Natural History (my favorite).  You really do need at least a week in the DC area to explore all of the amazing sites and museums it has to offer so we will have to make another trip sometime.  Tuesday we traveled home by train and lucky for me, I have the rest of the week and weekend off!  We are heading up to western Mass this weekend for the wedding of one of Tyler's oldest childhood friends.  The weather is perfect right now and we both feel great!  Enjoy some pictures of all our recent adventures below (sorry they are not in any particular order)!
