Baby this week: Baby's food size comparison this week is to a winter melon--no one seems to know what that is, Tyler and myself included. Baby's estimated to be anywhere from 19-22 inches long and about 6-6.5 pounds. Baby's brain and nervous system continue to develop (a process that doesn't slow down until about 3 years of age) but mostly baby is just packing on the pounds!
Momma and Papa this week: The last few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind with work schedules and trips. I am still on overnights but was able to meet Tyler in Maine for a few days two weekends ago. The ride wasn't too bad and it is absolutely gorgeous up there. When the dogs and myself arrived, Tyler was able to take the rest of the afternoon off so we could walk around the campus where he was doing his teaching and then adventure to downtown Bar Harbor where we played tourist and then had a truly amazing dinner. The next day it was pouring and he was in the lab teaching all day but I was able to catch up on some sleep and then join him and get to watch him work for a few hours. Saturday was also a half day for him so I got myself a massage in the morning and then we took the dogs on a 3 mile hike up Beech Mountain in Acadia National Park. It was incredible and we all had a great time (pics below). On the way home from Maine, one of our cars broke down. While it was a bit of an inconvenience, we were able to drive the rest of the way home in 1 car and it ended up being a cheap/easy fix. Thank goodness for AAA! End of last week we traveled by Amtrak train to Washington DC for a veterinary conference. I went to the conference and Tyler did other work but we were able to escape quite a bit and go on a few downtown DC excursions. We adventured around our hotel area the first night with Skylar (she drove 2.5 hours to come see us!) and Juli. We spent most of Sunday walking around DC and going to the Air and Space Museum. We had lunch on the National Mall and later in the afternoon/evening visited most of the major monuments. The next afternoon was spent at the Museum of Natural History (my favorite). You really do need at least a week in the DC area to explore all of the amazing sites and museums it has to offer so we will have to make another trip sometime. Tuesday we traveled home by train and lucky for me, I have the rest of the week and weekend off! We are heading up to western Mass this weekend for the wedding of one of Tyler's oldest childhood friends. The weather is perfect right now and we both feel great! Enjoy some pictures of all our recent adventures below (sorry they are not in any particular order)!
