21 Weeks

Hello!  Today marks week 21!  Less than half way to go :)

Baby at 21 weeks:  Baby is about the size of a carrot, weighing around 11oz and measuring ~7 inches!  Baby's eyelids and eyebrows are present and baby's bone marrow is starting to make blood cells!

Momma and Papa this week:  We had our 20 week appointment on Friday where we heard the heartbeat again (listen below)!  We have been busy with work this week but are getting ready to take a vacation real soon.  Not much else to report for now but stay tuned!

20 Weeks!

Hello hello!  We are officially half way there!  20 weeks down, 20 more to go!  Time sure is flying by!

Baby at 20 weeks:  Different sources are using different fruits this week as comparison to baby's size.  Some say a large mango and some say banana!  Baby's skin is thickening and developing layers and the hair and nails are continuing to grow.  Baby is still VERY active.  We have our 20 week appointment on Friday where we will get to hear baby's heartbeat again!  I don't think that sound will ever get old :)

Momma and Papa this week:  Both busy working per usual but we were able to "celebrate" the half way point in the pregnancy by going climbing outside for the first time this season.  We went up to the Quincy Quarries.  It was a gorgeous day and we both had a great climb.  Baby also had a great time and was moving around a lot.  Here are some pictures from our day!

Happy Memorial Day!  Hope everyone got some sunshine this weekend!  XOXO

18 Weeks!

We are now 18 weeks along and so far, this has been one of the most exciting weeks!

Baby at 18 weeks:  Baby is the size of a sweet potato, measuring about 5.5 inches and an estimated 5-6 ounces (although we have discovered this week that these are definitely just estimates!)  Baby is perfecting yawning and hiccuping this week and now has a unique set of toe and fingerprints! Baby's bones have started to ossify and among the first to do so were the tiny bones of the ear, allowing baby to start to hear sounds!  At this point baby can mostly hear sounds going on inside my body but may be startled by loud noises from the outside world!  Guess it's time for the classical music!  Baby is also moving around A LOT.  I started to feel baby move a little over a week ago and since then, baby's movements have only become stronger.  So strong that Tyler was actually able to feel the baby move the other night! It really is the most incredible feeling.

Momma and Papa this week:  We have had an amazing week.  We enjoyed a wonderful "staycation" together which included a trip to the garden center, lots of time outside (for all family members, including furry and feathered) and a Bluegrass Festival!  For Mother's Day we hosted a cookout.  It was very low key but the weather was gorgeous and we had great company! Below are some pictures!

18 week appointment: The most exciting part of our week was this Tuesday when we had our 18 week anatomy scan/ultrasound.  This ultrasound allowed us to see every little part of this precious baby, from the brain to the heart to the bones and more!  Everything looks healthy and baby was VERY active!  Our doctor actually used the word "perfect" when reporting the results.  Baby's heart rate was about 149bpm and was pumping strong!  At the appointment we were 18 weeks and 2 days, but baby was measuring bigger at 18 weeks and 5 days.  Baby was also estimated to be about 9 ounces already!  Below is our favorite picture from the ultrasound and our 18 weeks "bump" pic.  We are already so in love!

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend and enjoyed our update!  Stay tuned!  XOXO

Today marks 17 weeks!!  3 more weeks until we are halfway there.  Time is flying!  Here is the update:

Baby at 17 weeks: The baby is the size of a turnip (some books say onion, weighing in at around 5 ounces and almost 5 inches long)!  Baby's cartilage is turning to bone and the umbilical cord is growing strong.  Baby can move it's joints and it's eyebrows and hair are appearing.  Baby may also be experiencing bouts of hiccups.

16 week Dr. Appointment update: Everything so far so good!   Baby's heartbeat was easily found and is beating at a healthy 150 beats per minute!  Take a listen!!!

Momma and Papa at 17 weeks:  We are both feeling great!  We both worked all week and I worked Saturday, but still had a great weekend! We went climbing, grilled out, FINISHED the chicken coop and ran a road race!  We are so happy to finally have the chicken coop finished and kick the chickens out of the house!  Below are some pics of the coop and the race!

17 weeks "bump" picture:  Taken after the 2.5 mile Carver Coyote Challenge Race at Myles Standish State Forest (pic is actually on our deck with our own forest in the background)

Love to you all and tune in next Sunday for the weekly update!  XOXO
